We are well into the fencing with posts paid for and going into the ground. This is a big undertaking in the village at Kerr Layen because it is all manual labour over the 800mtrs or so. Just a look at the numbers. Five Hectares, 500 Trees, each tree will absorb about two tons of Carbon in its lifetime of 30+ years, over 1,000 tons in all. Benefit?

Well doing the maths on total trees, total Carbon and the cost of the plantation it work back that twenty trees, £120, will absorb about two tons of carbon per year once mature for thirty years. That's the equivalent of bringing the Co2 pollution of an average car doing 7,500 miles a year to nett ZERO! Equivalent to just £4 per year.. The Planet is worth that!

The village benefit is that in four years once the trees crop fully, the sale of nuts can bring in about £8,000 - £9,000 valuable income year on year. This provides the outcomes to give Kerr Layen food stability, better infrastructure, medical and education and the bottom line is they are doing ALL for themselves. A great "legacy" project. YOU can help this enterprise and reduce your carbon footprint.. WIN-WIN
